As we grow older the collagen within our skin begins to break down and decrease resulting in loss of volume, elasticity and undefined facial contours. Facial rejuvenation through using IPL provides an anti ageing approach to combat the signs of ageing and keep the skin looking younger and fresher for longer. IPL is a non invasive facial treatment that encourages collagen regeneration, improve pores, sun damaged, pigmentated skins and aid in reducing enlarged pores and fine line and wrinkles.

How do IPL treatments work? IPL treatment relies on absorption of melanin in the skin and haemoglobin in the blood for the treatment to be effective. The system transmits a filtered light to the treatment area which is a beam of energy that
passes through the skin, if the melanin or haemoglobin are hit with the correct amount of light, they will heat up and destroy the targeted area. An in-depth consultation with your photo rejuvenation specialist will be carried out before a treatment programme can proceed to assess your personal needs followed with a patch test to determine skin response.

Can I be treated? This treatment is a credible non invasive alternative to a face-lift. Skin rejuvenation is based on light absorption in melanin and haemoglobin treating and clearing superficial skin imperfections and creating thermal damage to the collagen of the skin which results in its regeneration and stimulation producing new collagen to lift laxity lines, plump the facial tissue, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth, forehead and eyes. The technology is supported by worldwide clinical research studies with proven results

How many treatments are needed? The most efficient treatments are on light skin tones that are not tanned at the time
of the treatment as this aids a greater contrast to eliminate superficial skin imperfections on the skin, making treatment easier. Recommended treatments of 4-6 sessions may be required to obtain the desired result; however this does depend on many factors depending on age, lifestyle, medication and area required to be treated/ covered along with skin sensitivity.  It is not possible to define how many treatments an individual will require.

What does a treatment involve? For IPL photo rejuvenation the sapphire chilled hand piece is gently applied to the skin and pulses of intense light is applied to the treatment area. At the time of treatments you may notice that the skin will appear unclean for a few days following the skin rejuvenation. Within a few days the skin will look fresher and smoother.  It is important to avoid tanning of the skin by solarium, sun or self tanning before and during photo rejuivenation sessions as tanned skins will absorb more light making the treatment less effective. We also advise that post treatment an SPF sunscreen is used to the treated area(s) to limit sun exposure for a few weeks.

Freckles, sun spots, liver or age spots, sun damaged skin, and other unwanted pigmentation are often associated with skin ageing, hormonal changes and sun damage caused by over exposure to the sun or sunbeds.

Generally, these pigmentation spots pose no health risk, however they can be unsightly creating an undesirable patchy, less youthful appearance. Freckling, age spots and sun damage are successfully lightened or removed with our Q-Switched Laser

The q-Switch Nd:YAG laser emits high energy light towards the affected area, helping to reduce the number of unwanted skin cells. This then allows skin to begin the generation of new cells to replace the old ones. In q-Switch mode, the laser produces two wavelengths with one being specifically used to target and address skin lesions. The laser is able to penetrate deeply without injuring the top layer of skin and also aids the skin’s production of collagen and vital proteins which are essential for healthy and youthful skin.

It is a relatively painless and swift treatment that is suitable for all types of skin. Helping to lighten the tone of your skin, this laser procedure will also help to address your complexion, resulting in fairer and smoother skin. The q-Switch Nd:YAG laser is also used around the world by many aesthetic doctors as its versatility and safety makes it a popular option.

This treatment may not be suitable if:

Before skin resurfacing

Fractional laser treatment has bridged the gap between the ablative and non-ablative laser techniques used to treat damaged and scarred skin. While ablative laser treatments work mainly on the epidermis (surface skin cells) and non-ablative treatments work solely on dermal collagen (mid-layer of skin) only, fractional laser treatment works at both the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin.
